Description
Take the frustration out of live food care with our premium Feeder Hornworm Pod. Designed specifically to support the unique lifestyle of hornworms, this self-contained habitat ensures your reptiles get the freshest, cleanest, and most hydrating caterpillars possible.
Choose the Perfect Starting Size
Hornworms are famous for their staggering growth rate, often doubling in size daily under warm conditions. Select the ideal starting size for your pet’s current needs:
-
- Micro: Approximately 1/4″ long. Perfect for dart frogs, baby geckos, praying mantis nymphs, and small invertebrates.
- Small: Approximately 1/2″ long. Great for juvenile geckos, young chameleons, and small anoles.
- Medium: Approximately 1″ to 1.5″ long. Ideal for sub-adult bearded dragons, medium chameleons, and larger amphibians.
- Large: Approximately 2″+ long. Plump, juicy, and meat-heavy; perfect for adult bearded dragons, monitors, tegus, large skinks, and adult turtles.
Automated, Mess-Free Husbandry
Hornworms are incredibly high in calcium, protein, and moisture, making them the ultimate tool for breaking reptile hunger strikes and boosting hydration. However, keeping them clean can be a chore. Our pod solves this with a smart, gravity-assisted design.
By storing the pod upside down (cap side down) on a mesh or wire surface, the 12 caterpillars naturally climb upward to graze on their food grid. This allows their waste to fall cleanly away to the bottom of the container, maintaining an ultra-sanitary environment with zero effort from you.
Why Choose a Hornworm Pod?
-
- Maximum Value: Watch them grow from tiny larvae to large caterpillars right inside the container, allowing you to feed them out at the exact size your specific reptile requires.
- Premium Fully Gut-Loaded Diet: The specialized chow inside the pod is formulated with essential vitamins and hydration, ensuring your hornworms are highly nutritious right before they are offered to your pets.
- Safe and Soft-Bodied: Hornworms have completely soft bodies with no tough chitinous exoskeleton, making them 100% digestible with zero risk of impaction.
💡 Pod Care & Temperature Control Instructions
You can easily manage how fast your hornworms grow simply by adjusting the temperature:
-
- To Accelerate Growth: Keep the pod in a warm area between 24°C and 27°C. They will consume the food quickly and grow rapidly.
- To Slow Down Growth: If the hornworms are reaching the maximum size your pet can safely swallow, move the pod to a cool room, basement, or dedicated wine cooler at 13°C to 15°C.
- Crucial Setup Tip: Always stand the pod upside down on a rack or ventilated surface so air can flow through the screen cap, and waste can fall away from the food.
- Warning: Do not place the hornworm pod in a standard household refrigerator, as temperatures below 10°C will quickly kill the worms.

Most of the colony had been dead on arrival, i was left with 4 that were alive
Lost 4 during their travels, and another one shortly after. Otherwise, happy with the pricing and size compared to PetSmart. They showed up with everything needed to keep them alive. Lively little worms when I put them in my dragons space.
All hornworms arrived alive and well and shipped very quickly!
