Choose the Perfect Size For Your Pet
To ensure your animals receive a perfectly proportioned meal, we sort our silkworms into three convenient life stages:
- Small (0.5″ / 13mm): Ideal for smaller insectivores, juvenile geckos, young chameleons, and growing amphibians.
- Medium (1.25″ / 32mm): Great for sub-adult bearded dragons, medium-sized chameleons, leopard geckos, and larger frogs.
- Large (2″+ / 50mm+): Plump and meat-heavy; perfect for adult bearded dragons, monitors, tegus, large skinks, and adult turtles.
The Gold Standard of Live Feeders
Unlike traditional crickets or mealworms which can be tough to digest, silkworms offer a completely soft body. This means they pose absolutely zero risk of impaction, making them incredibly safe for fragile or sensitive digestive tracts. They are also packed with moisture, providing an excellent dietary way to safely hydrate sluggish or sick animals. Because they move slowly and deliberately, they are an excellent, low-stress target for timid or elderly reptiles that struggle to hunt fast-moving roaches or crickets.
💡 Storage & Short-Term Care Instructions
Silkworms require clean conditions to thrive before you feed them out:
- Feeding: If keeping them for more than 24 hours, they must be fed daily with our specialized mulberry food chow or fresh, pesticide-free mulberry leaves. They will not eat any other vegetation.
- Hygiene: Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling silkworms, as their delicate immune systems are highly sensitive to household bacteria. Keep their holding container well-ventilated and dry.
- Warning: Never place silkworms in a standard household refrigerator. Exposure to temperatures below 10°C will quickly kill them. Store them at a comfortable room temperature between 18°C and 24°C.
Silkworms have very specific food requirements and will only eat fresh mulberry leaves or our chow.
