Highly active, long-lived, and easily digestible staple live feeders—perfectly sized for small-to-medium insectivores.
1/2″ Banded Crickets (Gryllodes sigillatus) are a premium choice for reptile keepers looking for a hardier, longer-lasting alternative to common brown crickets. Measuring 1/2″ in length, these crickets are in their mid-juvenile stage (approximately 3 to 3.5 weeks old). Because they are completely wingless and possess a very soft juvenile exoskeleton, they are incredibly easy for smaller pets to catch and digest.
  • Size & Age: Medium-small size, approximately 1/2″ (13mm) in length (approx. 3–3.5 weeks from hatch).
  • Superior Longevity: Naturally hardier with an active life expectancy of another 7 to 9 weeks in your care.
  • Highly Digestion-Friendly: Soft juvenile bodies ensure safe digestion and optimal nutrient absorption.
  • Perfect For: Juvenile bearded dragons, young leopard geckos, crested geckos, dart frogs, and small chameleons.

Description
Upgrade your staple live foods with our farm-fresh 1/2″ Banded Crickets. Known throughout the reptile hobby for their incredible resilience and energetic behavior, banded crickets are a fantastic, low-stress live food solution for both keepers and their exotic animals.
Understanding Their Life Stage
We ship these crickets right as they reach their 1/2″ mid-juvenile stage, meaning they are roughly 3 to 3.5 weeks old. Because they are harvested midway through their lifecycle, they are completely silent, easy to contain, and have plenty of growing left to do. Banded crickets are famously long-lived; once they arrive, you can expect them to thrive, grow, and stay viable for an additional 7 to 9 weeks when provided with basic food and warmth.
Why Choose Banded Crickets?
  • High Activity Level: Banded crickets are natural jumpers and runners. Their constant movement provides excellent physical enrichment and mental stimulation for active predators like chameleons and tree frogs.
  • Easier to Digest: Unlike other commercial cricket species that develop a tough, thick shell as they grow, banded crickets retain a remarkably soft body throughout their juvenile life stages. This minimizes any risk of impaction for younger, more sensitive pets.
  • Less Aggressive: Banded crickets are far less likely to bite or stress out your reptiles if left in the enclosure overnight compared to traditional brown or black crickets.
💡 Storage & Care Instructions
To maximize the lifespan of your crickets upon arrival, follow these straightforward husbandry tips:
  • Housing: Transfer the crickets into a well-ventilated container (such as a cricket keeper or plastic tote with a screen top). Provide egg cartons or crumpled paper to increase surface area and reduce stress.
  • Temperature: Maintain them at a warm room temperature between 21°C and 27°C. Avoid drafty areas or extreme heat.
  • Hydration & Nutrition: Never offer standing water, as crickets drown easily. Instead, provide hydration using specialized moisture gels or fresh slices of carrots and potatoes. Feed them a high-quality grain-based cricket diet to gut-load them with nutrients before feeding your pets.

They all arrived alive 😊

I ordered 1/2" crickets and recieved only baby crickets, too small to properly house (they are small enough to crawl through the air vents on my cricket keeper), and too small to feed to my reptile. I am extremely unsatisfied with the results of this transaction. I will not be ordering crickets from this company ever again.
